7. Where do I place my recyclables?: Recyclables are to be collected in clear recycle plastic bags and placed within a receptacle that can be obtained from Waste Connections. Any additional clear bags of recyclables may be placed alongside the receptacle. Recyclables are collected every Wednesday and are to be placed curbside by 7:00 A.M.

Solid Waste and Recycle Services

1. 1. Is solid waste service mandatory for both residential and commercial businesses within the City?: Yes, the City has a current franchise agreement with Waste Connections Inc. to provide both residential and commercial waste collection and recycling services within the City. (City Code of Ordinances Section 13.06.001)

2. 2. If I am a contractor and I am remodeling or constructing a home in the City, may I contract with a third party to provide a roll off container for construction waste disposal?: No, a person may not contract with a third party to provide roll off container delivery and disposal at a construction site. Persons must obtain the roll off containers through Waste Connections. (City Code of Ordinances Section 13.06.003)

If I own a commercial business in the City, may I contract with a different solid waste provider?: No, both residents and commercial businesses must use Waste Connections Inc. for solid waste collection and recycling. The City does not allow any other company to collect solid waste or provide recycling services within the City Limits of Midlothian. (City Code of Ordinances Section 13.06.001)

4. 4. At what time am I required to have my trash placed at the collection site?: All bagged solid waste and recycle materials shall be placed at the collection site by 7:00 a.m. on the morning of the designated collection day.

5. 5. Am I limited to the size of the bundle brush I place at the curb with my residential trash pick-up?: Cut and bundled brush will be picked up at the curb with residential trash at no additional charge provided that the brush is cut in three (3) feet lengths, bundled with string or rope, and not greater than 6” inches in diameter. The bundles shall be limited to a maximum of 35 pounds each and a maximum of 2 cubic yards per week will be picked up on the customers scheduled second day for trash collection. (City Code of Ordinances Section 13.06.004)

What if I have additional brush that exceeds the size requirements stated above.: Residents may call Waste Connections for a special pickup if their bundles of brush exceed the three feet in length with a maximum of 35 pounds each. Residents will be billed directly by Waste Connections for this collection.
