Country recording artist and songwriter, Amanda Kate Ferris, will close out this summer’s free concert series this Friday, August 19, 7:30 p.m. at Midlothian Community Park, 3601 S. 14th Street. Presented by Texas Health Hospital in Mansfield, the concert will be opened by another popular, local band, Bailey and the Bad Habits.
A resident of Midlothian, Ferris performs across the country, appearing last Saturday in Chicago. Last year Ferris competed in “Clash of the Cover Bands” television show, performing Carrie Underwood hits and receiving rave reviews from the judges. Inspired by dynamic female singers including Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Dawn Sears and newest Country Music Hall of Famers, The Judds, Ferris says that she was born into music and country music is her calling. Her first love is Texas country music with a traditional flair and ‘90s country appeal. Her show promises a mixture of deep, soulful songs and fun, danceable tunes. Bailey and the Bad Habits (shown at left performing at Railport Brewing Company), a Red Dirt Country/Southern Rock band from Waxahachie, will open the show. Formed in 2020 with influences that span all genres and decades, they have found a sound that borders on the edge of country, blues, and rock.
The 10-day weather forecast calls for temperatures in the mid-90s on Friday and a reliable breeze at the park makes for a comfortable evening show against the backdrop of the beautiful Art Pierard Memorial Amphitheater. Attendees should bring chairs and blankets to sit on the grass. Food for purchase will be available and coolers are allowed.
Many thanks to concert sponsors, Texas Health Hospital Mansfield.
