[ARCHIVED] Celebrate July Fourth Weekend at Home

Midlothians can enjoy a number of Independence Day celebrations this weekend at home thanks to community groups and public and corporate support.

On Saturday, July 2, the fun kicks off at 8 a.m. in downtown Heritage Park with an arts and crafts fair, which continues till noon. At 10 a.m., the United We Stand parade steps off at the 8th Street bridge and continues west on Avenue F to Overlook.  Food will be available for purchase before and after the parade at Heritage Park.  Organized by the Midlothian Parks and Recreation Department, this year’s parade and festivities are sponsored by Methodist Midlothian Medical Center and Marcos Pizza. 

Also, on Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the American Legion Chris Kyle Post 388, will hold its annual community cookout and silent auction at Kimmel Park. The cookout is free, but donations are accepted to help support the programs and services of the Post.  This event is sponsored by Midlothian Community Development Corporation.

On Sunday, July 3, the Annual Community Fireworks Show will take place at 9:15 p.m. The event is staged adjacent to the Midlothian ISD Multi-Purpose Stadium, and can be viewed from the stadium parking lot and the surrounding area. The parking lot opens at 6 p.m. This show is made possible through support from Midlothian Community Development Corporation, Citizens National Bank of Texas, and Methodist Midlothian Medical Center. Finally, on Monday, July 4, Midlothian’s Masonic Lodge Scholarship Foundation presents its 10th Annual Pyromusical at Blaine Stone Lodge.  This event benefits scholarships for Midlothian students.  Event sponsors include, Texas Ace Heating and Air, Linebarger Attorneys at Law, and Methodist Midlothian Medical Center.  Presenting sponsor for this event is Midlothian Community Development Corporation. Cost of admission is $25 per car.  Tickets are required and can be purchased on line via the organizer’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/events/360331342863665.
