Summer is right around the corner and the City of Midlothian has a full array of free events and activities in store for the community. Mark your calendars now!

Follow the links provided for event details.  Be sure to bookmark the City of Midlothian website and check back often for new events listed on the calendar and in Special Events.

Movies in the Park - Disney’s “Encanto” kicks off the summer movie series on Saturday, June 4 (rainout date June 11) at Hawkins Spring Park, 1498 FM 1387.  Methodist Midlothian Medical Center is presenting sponsor for these events.  Movies begin at dark, but prize drawings begin at 7 p.m.  Bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on the grass.  In case of rain, movies are rescheduled. The Midlothian Market - Organized by Midlothian Downtown Business Association, the outdoor market is open Saturdays through November 26 (some Saturdays excluded) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Heritage Park, 234 N. 8th Street. Find more information about The Midlothian Market

A.H. Meadows Library’s Summer Reading Program for ages pre-K through 5th grade runs from June 6 through July 28. This year’s theme is Oceans of Possibilities. Children may earn a prize for every five books they read or have read to them. In all, there are seven prizes. Reading logs and goodie bags may be picked up at the Library, 923 S. 9th Street, beginning Monday, June 6. Library hours throughout the summer are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Friday and Sunday.  (Note: the Library will be closed for scheduled cleaning the week of June 27 through July 4 and will reopen on July 5).

Bicycle Safety Course takes place June 6 through 10.  Taught by members of the Midlothian Police Department, this course is tailored by age group to teach agility and safety. Participants will engage in bike games, enjoy snacks, make friends, and win prizes, all while learning the rules of the road and how to enjoy bicycling safely. The program is held at Midlothian Community Park. Registration required.  Schedule and registration.

Daddy Daughter Dance - An Enchanted Fiesta, happens on Friday, June 17 at the Midlothian Conference Center. Cost is $30 per couple ($10 for additional guests). Registration is required. Call (972) 775-7125.

Wildflower Walks at Mockingbird Nature Park, June 18, 9 a.m., 1361 Onward Road. Enjoy a guided ½-mile walk to learn about the wildflowers, native plants, and animal life of the park. These free events are presented by the Texas Master Naturalists, Indian Trail Chapter and are open to children and adults. In the event of rain, walks are cancelled. Summer Beats Concert Series - A free rock ‘n’ roll concert, featuring Double Ace, Friday, June 24, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Midlothian Community Park, Art Pierard Memorial Amphitheater, 3601 S. 14th Street. Bring chairs and blankets for lawn seating. Food for purchase will be available.  

Independence Day Parade and Festivities, July 2, 8 a.m. to noon, downtown Midlothian. Festivities begin at 8 a.m. in Heritage Park, 234 N. 8th Street, with artisans and food vendors.  The parade kicks off at 10 a.m.  More information on the Parks & Recreation Department Special Events webpage.

Independence Day Fireworks Show, Sunday, July 3, 9:15 p.m. Presented by Citizens National Bank of Texas, Midlothian Community Development Corporation, and Methodist Midlothian Medical Center. For more details about the show, visit the Parks & Recreation Special Events link below.

PARKTOPIA, Friday, July 22, 5 to 9 p.m. at Midlothian Community Park, 3601 S. 14th Street. Bring the family and enjoy an array of outdoor family fun and games, including Giant Jenga®, Frisbee®, hula hoop, soccer, sidewalk chalk, kite-flying, jump rope, jacks, face painting, football, cornhole, tic-tac-toe, four square, hopscotch, can slam, ring toss, chess, and more!  Also enjoy free refreshments, giveaways, and prizes.

To be held at Midlothian Community Park, Art Pierard Memorial Amphitheater, 3601 S. 14th Street. Bring chairs and blankets for lawn seating. Food for purchase will be available. Presenting sponsor for this event is Texas Health Hospital Mansfield.

Mayor’s Back to School Bash, July 30, 4 to 9 p.m., MISD Multi-purpose Stadium parking lot.  Inflatables, games, free food and food for purchase, and a concert.  Free and open to the public. www.mannahouseoutreach.com

Bring chairs and blankets for lawn seating. Food for purchase will be available.  Presenting sponsor for this event is Texas Health Hospital Mansfield.

National Night Out Kick-Off, Saturday, September 17, 5:30 to 8 p.m., Midlothian Community Park, 3601 S. 14th Street. Sponsored by Methodist Midlothian Medical Center, National Night Out is an annual community-police partnership.  Come out to learn how your neighborhood, church, or organization can participate in the national event that takes place on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, in Midlothian.
