[ARCHIVED] Community Park Grand Opening Kicks Off Spring Special Event LineUp

Spring kicks into full swing with Community Park Phase 2 Grand Opening Play Day! and concert on Saturday, March 26.  Mark your calendars now because you won't want to miss any of these family-friendly events.  Most events are free, except where noted.  Follow the links provided for event details.  Additional details about City of Midlothian Parks & Recreation Department special events can be found at the link below.

Midlothian Play Day! and Wynn Williams Concert , March 26, Midlothian Community Park, 3601 S. 14th Street. Being held to celebrate the grand opening of Community Park Phase 2, includes a day of free play from 3 to 6 p.m. At 6 p.m. the Art Pierard Memorial Amphitheater will be dedicated, which will be immediately followed by a concert by Texas country singer-songwriter, Wynn Williams. A fireworks show at 8:30 p.m. will cap off the evening. Learn more at Parks & Recreation Special Events link below.

Community Egg Hunt for kids 10 years old and younger is set for Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m. Event will be at the Sports Complex softball fields, 1000 S. 14th Street. Participants are divided by age group. Be sure to arrive early as hunt begins at 10 a.m. sharp.  Learn more at Parks & Recreation Special Events link below. 

Spring CleanUp Day takes place on Saturday, April 9, 8 a.m. to Noon at the Public Works Service Center, 1050 N. US Hwy. 67. Open to Midlothian residents only (no businesses) and proof of residency is required. Find more information about CleanUp Day event.

The Midlothian Market opens April 16 and will be held each Saturday through November 26 (some Saturdays excluded). Organized by Midlothian Downtown Business Association, The Market is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features artisans, food vendors, and more. Find more information about The Midlothian Market.

Wildflower Walks at Mockingbird Nature Park, April 16 and May 21, 9 a.m., 1361 Onward Road. Enjoy a guided ½-mile walk to learn about the wildflowers, native plants, and animal life of the park. These free events are presented by the Texas Master Naturalists, Indian Trail Chapter and are open to children and adults. In the event of rain, walks are cancelled. Kids Fishing Derby for children ages 4-12 will be held on Saturday, April 23 at the Community Park Pond, 3601 S. 14th Street. Midlothian Fishing Team members will be on hand to assist the young anglers. Registration is required and will open on March 21.  Space is limited. Midlothian Chamber’s Wine, Arts, and Craft Brew Festival, presented by the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce, to be held on Saturday, April 30, 2 to 8 p.m. on North 8th Street, in Downtown Midlothian. Ticket and vendor information.

Household Chemical Waste Drop-Off, Saturday, May 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Public Works Service Center, 1050 N. US Hwy. 67.  Voucher required to participate; $20 for residents and $50 for non-residents.   Household Chemical Waste Disposal.

8th Street Dance, Saturday, May 14, 7 to 10 p.m. on North 8th Street in Downtown Midlothian. Come enjoy your neighbors and the popular disco band Le Freak. Learn more at Parks & Recreation Special Events link below.

Mental Health Awareness Walk, presented by Paws for Reflection Ranch, Saturday, May 21 at Midlothian Community Park, 3601 S. 14th Street, beginning at 9 a.m.  For more information and registration, visit Paws for Reflection Ranch.
