[ARCHIVED] Play Day! Concert Performer Announced

The City of Midlothian will host a Community Play Day! to celebrate the Grand Opening of Community Park Phase 2 on March 26, 2022, 3 to 9 p.m., 3601 S. 14th Street.

Texas country music singer-songwriter, Wynn Williams, will ignite the stage of the Art Pierard Memorial Amphitheater with a free concert at 6 p.m. 

Beginning a 3 p .m., Play Day! invites attendees to sample the amenities in the new portion of the 105-acre park, including:

  • pickleball
  • basketball
  • sand volleyball
  • wiffle ball
  • kickball

Equipment will be available and volunteers will be on hand to demonstrate activities and assist attendees.

Additionally, guests will be able to enjoy: 

  • Splash pad
  • Playgrounds
  • Walking trails 
  • Stocked fishing pond
  • Free refreshments & giveaways!

Art Pierard Memorial Amphitheater Dedication Ceremony

At 6 p.m., the park's amphitheater will be dedicated in the name of late City Councilmember Art Pierard, who passed away in 2020.  

Inaugural Concert & Fireworks Finale

Immediately following its dedication, the amphitheater will feature a family-friendly concert by Wynn Williams from 6 to 8 p.m., culminating in a fireworks finale. Bring a blanket to sit on the Amphitheater's spacious lawn.

Bonds approved by voters in 2017 and a grant from Midlothian Community Development Corporation (MCDC) funded Community Park Phase 2 construction. MCDC also funded a grant to support Play Day!
