July promises to be a month of fun, kicking off with a day-long Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 3.
An Arts & Crafts Fest will open activities on July 3 at 8 a.m. and run till noon in Heritage Park, 203 N. 8th Street. The Fest will include merchandise booths and food vendors.
Midlothian’s “Celebrating America’s Super Heroes” Parade will step off at 10 a.m., July 3, from Avenue B and the 8th Street bridge, follow N. 8th Street south to Heritage Park, turn west on Avenue F, ending at Overlook Drive.
Annual Fireworks Show commences at 9:15 p.m., July 3. The show is staged near the Sports Complex at 1000 14th Street (in between Frank Seale Middle School and the Midlothian Multipurpose Stadium), and can be viewed from the Sports Complex, stadium parking lot, and surrounding streets.
The Independence Day celebration events are made possible by our sponsors: Parade - Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, Waxahachie, Marco's Pizza, and United Rentals; Fireworks Show - Citizens National Bank of Texas, Methodist Midlothian Medical Center, and Midlothian Community Development Corporation.

The Midlothian Market is an open-air market, featuring food and craft vendors. It is held at Midlothian’s Heritage Park, 234 N. 8th Street, on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through December 18. To learn more about becoming a vendor, email stringmealong3@aol.com.
“Sonic the Hedgehog” will be the featured Movie in the Park on Saturday, July 17. Sponsored by Methodist Midlothian Medical Center, Movies in the Park are held at Hawkins Spring Park, 1498 FM 1387. The free event opens at 7:30 p.m. and movies start at dark. Come early to get in on the free prize drawing. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. The concession stand will be open for snacks. In case of rain, the movie will be rescheduled for the following Saturday (July 24). Support for these events is also provided by Marco's Pizza and Higginbotham Brothers Ace Hardware Store.
The 3rd Annual Parktopia on Friday, July 23, 5 to 9 p.m., celebrates National Parks and Recreation Month. To be held at Community Park, 3601 S. 14th Street, the event will offer an evening of outdoor, family fun and games, including Giant Jenga®, Frisbee®, hula hoop, soccer, sidewalk chalk, kite-flying, jump rope, jacks, face painting, football, cornhole, tic-tac-toe, four square, hopscotch, can slam, ring toss, chess, and more! In-n-Out Burger will provide free burger box dinners, while supply lasts. Thanks also to Methodist Midlothian Medical Center and Marco’s Pizza for sponsoring this year’s family fun night at the park.
