Beautiful Midlothian Photo Contest Rules
Entry Deadline July 10, 2020
This contest is open to professional or amateur photographers who are Midlothian residents. Individuals affiliated with the City of Midlothian may enter, but will not be eligible to win a prize. This includes employees, volunteers, council members, and members of boards and committees. The City of Midlothian will determine winners’ eligibility in its sole discretion.
Photos must be taken in and around the City of Midlothian.
Unless intended as an historical photo, images should depict the current state of a location as of the deadline of the contest (July 10, 2020).
Each photographer may enter a maximum of 6 photographs.
Cropped photos are eligible, but photos must be in their original state and cannot be digitally enhanced or otherwise altered to create special effects or to add, remove, reverse, or distort subjects within the frame of the photograph.
Photos with recognizable images of Individuals must be accompanied by an official consent form signed by the subject(s) if an adult, or parent(s) or legal guardian(s), if a minor.
The contestant must certify that he/she is the sole creator and copyright owner of the submitted photograph(s).
All photographers will receive photo credit if their photo is used.

Each submission must be accompanied by an entry form signed by the contestant (or parent or legal guardian if under 18), which includes attesting that the image is the original work of the photographer, and giving the City of Midlothian permission to use the photo on its website, across social media, in publications, and other digital and printed materials for an unlimited time period.
The City of Midlothian will credit the photographer with each use or publication of the photograph. The City of Midlothian will not sell the photographs or use the photographs on any items to be sold to the general public without the express permission of the photographer.
Suggested Subject Matter
Landscapes and cityscapes, depicting the four sectors of the community
Rural/country Suburban Industrial Downtown
Parks, city buildings and community landmarks, people and activities (consent of subjects required), culture and art, nature and animals.
Entries will be judged in two categories: adult and junior. Finalists will be selected by a panel of City employees. Prize winners will be selected from the finalists and displayed in an online exhibit conducted on Facebook where members of the public will be invited to visit the City’s website to vote for their favorite photographs during the week of July 27 through August 2, 2020. Winners will be announced by August 11, 2020.
Recognition and Prizes
All photographs chosen as finalists will be included in an online exhibit the week of July 27, 2020.
All finalist photographs will reside in a permanent gallery on the City of Midlothian website.
Many, but not necessarily all, of the finalist photographs will be featured routinely on the City of Midlothian website and in publications.
Photographers will be given credit upon each use of the photograph.
Contest winners will be announced publicly via the mainstream media and on social media.
First-, second-, and third-place winners will be named in both categories and will receive prize gift baskets and goodie bags donated by local merchants (value to be determined).
