The Professional Standards Division is responsible for the recruitment and training of officers, policy writing/development and Internal Affairs.
Internal Affairs (IA) investigates misconduct related to policy violations. The purpose of IA is to maintain the integrity and ethical standards of the Midlothian Police Department through complete and objective investigations. The Department has established a Complaint Process for citizens to report any policy violations by an officer.
The Professional Standards Division also coordinates and manages Community Involvement and Crime Prevention programs and events including National Night Out and the Citizens Police Academy.
