Inspections

The City of Midlothian has implemented MyGov, an online software program that enables citizens and registered contractors to access building permit information, schedule inspections, and see the status of their projects.  Please view the MyGov Information Sheet for instructions on the program.  All inspections must be submitted through MyGov.  If you are unable to access the Internet, a kiosk is provided in the Development Services lobby during regular business hours for your use.

Online inspection requests placed before 5:00 pm through MyGov guarantee a next day inspection.  Please allow 48 hours for inspections received by phone through the Inspection Request Call Line at (972) 775-7166.  All requests must contain the following information:

  1. Contractor's name and phone number
  2. Address of inspection site
  3. Type of inspection
  4. Desired date of inspection (we are unable to accept time requests)

Please do not request an inspection if the work is not complete; you may be subject to a $50.00 re-inspection fee.  Permit package and address must be posted on site.

Permits

Building permits must be obtained prior to making any improvements or alterations to a property.  If you have any questions if your project will require a permit, please contact us.  Handouts, forms, and permit applications may be downloaded here.

Contractor Registration

Contractors must be registered with the City in order to obtain a permit.  There is no fee to register.  Registration may be completed in person, email, fax, or through MyGov. Please have a picture ID, insurance, and appropriate license available when registering.
