Midlothian was founded in 1888 and has a rich history that dates back to the early days of the railroad. Although we are growing by leaps and bounds we have worked hard to retain some of the small-town charm that communities in Texas past have offered.

Bill Houston was elected to the office of Mayor of the City of Midlothian in February, 2012 after serving four years on the City Council as Councilmember, Place 2. He was then re-elected in 2014 and again in 2017 for another three year term. Mayor Houston resigned in 2019 with his last official day as Mayor, March 25, 2019.
Mayor Houston is currently a licensed Texas real estate agent and is a past president of the Ellis-Hill Association of Realtors. He is active in his community, serving on the Board of Trustees for Baylor Hospital – Waxahachie, the Best Southwest Association Executive Board, a Lions Club member, and an AMBUCS member. Bill is the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce Leadership Alumni of the Year for 2012, a 2006 alumnus of the Chamber’s Leadership Midlothian program and also the City of Midlothian’s Citizens Academy program. He has served on the Midlothian Community Development Corporation Board (Type 4b Corporation) and on the Joe Barton Citizens Committee. Mayor Houston also supports the Meals on Wheels program, making occasional meal deliveries.
Bill and his wife, Debbie have facilitated a DivorceCare program for the past six years at the First Baptist Church in Midlothian, where they are church members. They have three children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
