Geographic Information System (GIS) Maps

What is GIS?

Geographic Information System (GIS) is a system for capturing, storing, analyzing, and managing data and associated attributes, which are spatially referenced to the earth. GIS allows city staff to visualize, question, analyze, and interpret the data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends, which ultimately helps to solve complex problems.

The City of Midlothian's GIS division supports a variety of departments in their daily operations by creating, maintaining, analyzing, and providing access to spatial data and mapping tools. GIS division also provides quality spatial products for public to use.
