Overview
The Wastewater Collection Division maintains and repairs over 150 miles of sanitary sewer lines, more than 1,600 manholes and 14 lift-stations.
Please do your part to keep our sewer lines flowing by making sure that nothing inappropriate is flushed down the toilet or poured down the drain. View the
"It's a Toilet, Not a Trashcan" pamphlet for more information.
Safety
The Wastewater Collection Division takes a proactive approach to employee and customer safety, enacting policies and procedures aimed at preventing accidents before they happen. Some of the measures include:
- Testing for gases and ventilating confined spaces, such as manholes, prior to entering
- Requiring additional personnel and retrieval systems on site before workers enter manholes
- Shoring excavation sites more than five feet deep with trench boxes to prevent cave-ins
