Where, When & How
Defendants may pay in-person, use court dropbox, by mail or online for some violations (excludes Juvenile cases, certain violations that include alcohol and tobacco, and assault cases involving family violence). If paying in person, please note that the office occasionally closes during the lunch hour. Payment methods accepted are:
- Credit Card - American Express, Apple Pay, MasterCard & Visa with proper ID.
- Money Order or Cashier Check made payable to the City of Midlothian
Court documents and payments may be deposited in the secure Dropbox after hours. Please submit in envelope! Dropbox is located at the court entrance.
Notice of Alternatives to Full Payment of Fine and/or Cost: The Judgment and sentence for the offense you are charged is the payment of a fine and/or cost. If you are ordered to pay a fine and/or cost, and you cannot pay, notify the court immediately. If you are determined by the court to have insufficient resources or income to pay, the court is required to provide you other ways to discharge the fine and/or cost.
Online Citation Guidelines
Online services cannot be used for the following situations:
- Paying dismissal fees
- Paying for violations issued to Juveniles
- Paying for the Driver Safety Course option
- Paying for Assault Family Violence cases prior to court.
Please be aware that paying for your citation/ticket online counts as a plea of no contest.
Paying a traffic fine will result in a conviction being entered on your record.
A small processing fee may be applied when making a payment online.
Payments made online after 3:00 pm will be processed the next business day.
Warrant(s): Payment for warrant(s) made AFTER 3:00 pm, will be processed the next business day and you are at risk of arrest until your payment is processed.
If you receive a “no unpaid violations are eligible for payment on online” reply, please check to be sure you are using a capital ‘E’ with the remaining numeral digits. On Commercial Vehicle Citations select the drop-down arrow and select Driver’s License.
Note: If you are experiencing difficulties paying online, it is your responsibility to contact the Municipal Court to ensure your citation is taken care of in a timely manner.
If you are unable to pay via the online services, you MUST either mail your payment or pay in-person. Payment by mail must be made by money order/cashier check and payable to the City of Midlothian (NO CASH or PERSONAL CHECKS). If paying in-person the court also accepts cash, America Express, Apple Pay, Mastercard or Visa with the proper ID. Phone payments are not allowed.
