The 15th academy will be held from September 8, 2016 to November 17, 2016. Academy Information
Beginning in the Fall, the Midlothian Police Department will present its 15th Citizen’s Police Academy. The previous 14 academies have been very successful and the department hopes to improve upon the popular program. The purpose of the Academy is to give citizens who live and work in Midlothian an opportunity to learn about police work in general and also gain insight into the Midlothian Police Department. The Academy is free and will be held on Thursday nights from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm for eleven weeks starting September 8, 2016 and ending November 17, 2016. The Academy is available to those 16 and older and will meet in the Midlothian Police Department at 1150 North Highway 67, Suite 300, Midlothian, Texas 76065.
During this eleven week course, Officers from the Department will instruct citizens in several areas including Law, Crime Prevention, Patrol, Investigations, Traffic, Crime Scene, Patrol Operations, Departmental Procedures, and Lethal and Non-Lethal Firearms training and orientation. The focus of the curriculum is to provide a comprehensive, informative overview of police operations. This forum will certainly be an effective and successful way to build a partnership between the community and the police department.
Any person who is interested in attending the Citizen’s Police Academy may download an application from the website or obtain one at the Midlothian Police Department. Applications may be returned by mail or in person to the Police Department. Contact Billy Seals for more information 972-775-7633.
